As part of its 30th edition, MASDANZA broadens its focus to urban dance with an unprecedented proposal: “Everyone to the Battle” Inspired by the iconic French format I Love This Dance and by the Tous Les Styles experience held in Gran Canaria in 2013, this new section of the festival brings audiences the energy and creativity of the “battle” competitions that are setting trends on the international scene.
Sixteen dancers —selected from eight key disciplines of urban culture: Breaking, Waacking, Hip Hop, House, Vogue, House Dance, Afrodance and Cutting Shapes— will face off in one-on-one duels. Each match presents a unique challenge: dancing to music chosen by the opponent, testing not only technique but also versatility, musicality and each artist’s ability to improvise.
