Commitment to Sustainability at MASDANZA 2024
At MASDANZA, we understand that culture and art can also be a force for change towards a more sustainable world. This year, we are firmly committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the objectives of the Canary Islands Agenda 2030. Through our initiatives, we aim not only to minimize the environmental impact of the festival but also to inspire our audience to be active participants in this movement.
Sustainable Mobility
We want your experience at MASDANZA to be not only unforgettable but also environmentally friendly. That’s why we organize our festival in areas easily accessible by public transportation in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This helps reduce CO₂ emissions and promotes sustainable mobility. We encourage you to use public transport! In the welcome information, we will provide maps and guides to make moving around the city easy and eco-friendly.
By choosing sustainable transportation options, you’re helping reduce the carbon footprint and protecting our planet for future generations.
Energy Efficiency
At MASDANZA, we adjust event and setup schedules to reduce energy consumption and minimize noise impact. In addition, we use efficient generators and low-consumption audio equipment, allowing us to offer exciting shows while caring for the environment.
Saving energy not only means fewer emissions of polluting gases but also a quieter and more sustainable city. Your support for these measures makes a difference!
Community Care
In every edition, we work to ensure the festival respects and cares for the local community. We reduce setup and takedown times to avoid unnecessary blockages in public spaces and make sure our events are accessible to everyone without causing crowds.
Participating in a festival that respects the urban environment means enjoying culture without disrupting the daily life of the city, contributing to a harmonious atmosphere for everyone.
Local and Sustainable Economy: Km 0
Supporting the local economy is key to MASDANZA. We collaborate with Canarian suppliers to ensure that the festival has a positive impact on the community. From fresh fruits from local farms for artists’ catering to prizes made by Canarian artisans, we strive to highlight local talent.
By consuming local products, you not only enjoy the richness of Gran Canaria but also support the island’s economy and reduce emissions associated with goods transportation.
Waste Management and Plastic Reduction
Waste prevention is one of our main goals. We reduce plastic use in our catering services and promote digital reading of programs to avoid paper waste. Additionally, we install recycling bins at all our locations to make it easier for both the public and artists to recycle properly.
Every little action counts. By generating less waste and recycling, you help preserve the environment, leaving a cleaner footprint.
Carbon Footprint Compensation
We take MASDANZA’s environmental impact seriously. We carefully calculate our carbon footprint and offset emissions through reforestation and renewable energy projects. Additionally, we measure the public’s carbon footprint through surveys to continuously improve our actions.
By participating in an event that offsets its emissions, you’re supporting an initiative that aims for carbon neutrality, helping to combat climate change.
At MASDANZA, we believe that every action counts. We invite you to be part of this change by enjoying a festival committed to the environment and sustainable development. Together we can create a greener future for Gran Canaria and the world!
