Through the Training Programme, MASDANZA builds a resource to raise the artistic skills of Canarian dancers and choreographers, through the relationship with top level pedagogues and choreographers. The set of training actions has as an additional objective: the expansion of the professional opportunities of the artists.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE WORKSHOP 2026
In this edition, we are delighted to introduce Abián Hernández Herrera, choreographer and performer of LA GRIETA, as one of our guest teachers.
He graduated in Early Childhood Education from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2014. He trained at the Natalia Medina Dance School, later becoming a member of its company. He is currently a member of Cía. Daniel Abreu, performing in works such as DALET, CANARII and CAPÍTULO. He is also a dancer with OtraDanza in PROMETEO and a member of Cía. Daniel Rodríguez in TRANSEÚNTE. Throughout his career, he has also participated in productions such as La Umbría, by Cyrano Producciones, and SOMNUS, by Cía. Daniel Morales.
His international experience includes working with B’cause Dance Company and Song of the Goat in Poland, as well as Keneish Dance Company in the United Kingdom. He has also collaborated with choreographers such as Adrian Look and David Evans on various projects.
As a creator, he is the choreographer and performer of Savia, a piece that was awarded second prize at the BIONIC Dance Festival. He is also the creator of ESPERA, PREJUICIO, Constelación and APEGO, the latter three created in collaboration with Raquel Jara. Together with Sofía do Mar, he developed Keep an Eye on Your Belongings and, more recently, DUAL and BULLnerable with Andrea Pérez. His latest work is ERIZO.
The training programme will take place from Monday 19 to Saturday 24 October, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm, at Teatro Pérez Galdós.
As a new feature, the course will culminate in a public Work-in-Progress presentation on Saturday 24 October at 12:00 pm.
The course is completely free of charge.
