The Space of the Body Programme is based on the concept of community dance, which for MASDANZA is the one that uses dance and the arts of movement to achieve social objectives, inclusion, public health, collective integration, or participation; in short, it tries to be a tool to generate citizen benefit.
Through The Space of the Body, social entities, fundamentally those working in the field of inclusion, have an unbeatable instrument for social intervention. Access to community dance programmes is not individual, but it is always channelled through organisations, groups or collectives, with a view to social cohesion and offering everyone another way of relating to the body.
This project is aimed at:
- Entities that work with people in groups in a situation or at risk of social exclusion.
- Groups or collectives that aim to promote values of tolerance, equality, inclusiveness and diversity.
- Organisations dedicated to health care.
- Senior citizens.
MASDANZA‘s teaching staff meet with the groups under parameters and objectives that are previously agreed with the educators and social workers, therefore, each group has defined objectives that guide the work in the short, medium and long term.
The methodology is based on group work sessions. The needs shared by educators, group leaders and participants will be the core of the meetings. The degree of difficulty is taken into account, as well as the rhythm of the sessions, where there is always a margin for improvisation according to the group’s response to the corporal proposals.
