Dance is an extraordinarily suitable instrument for cultural diplomacy, and this is what MASDANZA has been doing all these years, collaborating in common areas with other cultural initiatives that have a special place for dance and the arts of movement. Casa África collaborates with the festival to provide visibility to African creators.

“Black is a reflection on violence and the emancipation of Blackness in today’s world, through a body that challenges and unsettles—a body both wounded and celebrated. Using a staging stripped of artifices yet rich in symbolism, choreographer and performer Oulouy references recent events, such as the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the murder of George Floyd, to reframe the African Black body in the Western world. Black is a dance, a visual and musical chronicle told through urban dance styles from the African continent and its diaspora in the USA, such as Coupé-Décalé, Ndomboló, Afrohouse, and Krump”.
