“ ‘La Danseuse’ (titled “The Dancer” in English) is a 2016 French biographical film directed by Stéphanie Di Giusto. The story is based on the life of Loïe Fuller, an innovative dancer and pioneer of modern dance, originally from the western United States. Fuller became an icon of the ‘Belle Époque’ and is known for having invented the serpentine dance, a technique that used long dresses and light effects to create spectacular visual effects on stage. The film follows her career and the difficulties she faced, including physical pain and competition with the young and ambitious Isadora Duncan, who is also a prominent figure throughout the film”.
