“Every Saturday, over a period of 10 months, forty young people recruited from various schools in Wuppertal rehearse with Pina Bausch’s company, under the watchful eye of the choreographer herself, to stage the production *Kontakthof*. The students come from very diverse family backgrounds. Some are wealthy and others are not; many of them have never danced before, whilst others are highly skilled dancers. Their thoughts and opinions, their way of seeing the world and even their romantic relationships mature as they improve as dancers. Thanks to two dancers from the company, Joséphine Ann Endicott and Béatrice Billet, these young people come to appreciate the meaning of the work and the value of their own role in it.”
