Atanas Maev, Bachelor of Economics from the University of Plodviv “Paisii“ Hilendarski ”of Bulgaria and in Economic Engineering from TU Karlsruhe in Germany, is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Derida Dance Center in Sofia, Bulgaria, a center dedicated to the production of contemporary dance shows and projects aimed at the development and creation of the necessary conditions for the creators of contemporary dance, such as artistic residences, educational programs, trainings and workshops.
Atanas is also Co-Founder and Vice President of the Art Link Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion of contemporary dance, the training of choreographers and dancers, and the creation of new audiences.
Since 2015, Atanas has been a professor at the New Bulgarian University, in the Faculty of Business Administration, where he teaches management for the operation of cultural institutions and strategies to obtain funds for the financing of cultural projects.
Atanas has collaborated and worked on different international projects in Bulgaria, Spain, Hungary and South Korea, among others, in addition to working with the European Commission in the creation of the Open Method for the Coordination of Working Groups for the creation of Artistic Residences.
As Artistic Director of Derida Dance Center, he organizes and supervises the classes of classical ballet and contemporary dance, artistic residences and the presentation in Bulgaria of international choreographers.
