Graduated in Geography and History from the University of La Laguna in 1979, she opened the Saro León Gallery in 1988 with the aim of creating a meeting point for artists from the Canary Islands and those from other places. Throughout her extensive professional career leading her gallery, which this year celebrated its 36th anniversary, she has worked with numerous artists of various nationalities (African, European, Caribbean, and Asian).
She has participated in the most important national and international art fairs and has produced projects for biennials such as Bamako and Havana on several occasions. Her role in the international promotion of Canary Islands artists and in normalizing the presence of contemporary artists of African origin and Asian photographers in Spain is also noteworthy, making the gallery a point of reference in the contemporary art world.
In recognition of her significant and extensive work in the visual arts, she received the Can de Plata Award for the Arts in 2016, granted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.
