FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR OF MASDANZA, THE INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY DANCE FESTIVAL OF THE CANARY ISLANDS, SPAIN.
Natalia Medina is the Founder and Director of MASDANZA. She holds a degree in Physical Education by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a Master’s degree in Scenic Arts by King Juan Carlos University of Madrid.
She is involved in many areas of artistic activity involving dance, including performances, formation, creation, direction and management, specializing in the contemporary expression of this discipline.
In 1996 she founded MASDANZA, The International Contemporary Dance Festival Of The Canary Islands and in 2019, she will celebrate her twenty-fourth year as Director.
In 1999 she created her own dance ensemble: The Natalia Medina Dance Company. Since then, she has toured Spain and several countries around the world with different contemporary dance productions. She continues to be the Company’s Artistic Director.
Natalia is also the Director of the social project ACROSS HIP-HOP LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA a project designed to bring dance to young people from the different districts of her hometown, thus creating new audiences for contemporary dance. In 2019, this project is celebrating its tenth edition.
